ChronicleChamber.com Site F.A.Q.

Last Up-Date: 14/06/2009

Welcome to the ChronicleChamber.com Site F.A.Q. We’ve separated the site and Forum F.A.Q.’s into two separate entries. If you’re looking for the forums F.A.Q. see HERE.

If you are looking for an answer not provided here or feel there is something that should be addressed in the F.A.Q. that isn’t currently covered, then post about it on the forums HERE or e-mail us.

Q. I’ve never read The Phantom before, where should I start?
A. Unfortunately, very few Phantom stories, especially those written by the characters creator, Lee Falk, are easy to get hold of. If you really want to read a Lee Falk story try and track down the latest edition of Frew Publications Phantom Annual. If you cannot find these in your local newsagent or comics store then the next best thing would be to try eBay, however they can be expensive. Other than that, you’ll have to get some back issues which can also be expensive. If you want to get back issues eBay is a good source as are comic stores. Also, if you don’t live in Australia finding Frew issues could prove very tricky.

However, all is not lost! Many of Moonstone Books’ Phantom stories have been collected in trade format and they also have a number of graphic novels out. First I would suggest you pick up the Phantom: Legacy graphic novel.

This is the origin story of the Phantom line. This will tell you all about where the hero came from and why the Phantom line began. It is also a brilliant read. However, you DO NOT have to have read Legacy to follow any of Moonstone (or any other publishers’) Phantom stories.

Also, check out our Phantom Overview.

From there you should have enough grounding to be able to jump into either Frew, Egmont's or Moonstone's on-going Phantom series.

Q. What is ChronicleChamber.com all about?
A. ChronicleChamber.com is all about the Phans. We strive to provide all the news, reviews and interviews a Phan could wish for. Be you a dedicated Moonstone-er or a Falk-only reader we will try out best to provide you with all the latest in Phantom and Mandrake related content.

Not only do we wish to provide for long time Phans but we will also do our very best to introduce new Phans to the Phantom and Mandrake and help them feel comfortable in the heroes’ world. Phan’s are free to submit any articles or art works to us to be showcased in PhanWorks if they so wish. ChronicleChamber.com is a Phantom site by phans for Phans.
Anything your heart desires we will try and provide.

Q. What is the best way to keep up to date with ChronicleChamber.com and Phantom/ Mandrake news?
A. The best and easiest way to keep up to date with CC is our RSS feed.

You can find the link for the RSS in the blogs’ Navigation bar or click on the RSS quick link button above the Chronicle Chamber Extended list on the top right of the page. An RSS feed allows you to check for new news entries on these blogs without having to actually visit the site.

To use an RSS Feed you’ll need a Feed Reader. These are simply small applications that allow your computer to read the RSS feeds and alert you to new news entries. There are many different kinds to Readers and you may already have one on your computer. Mozilla’s Firefox browser, for example, comes with a Reader called Live Bookmarks.

Good Feed Readers are Sage (Requires Firefox), Google Reader, Omega Reader, Awasu Reader but see HERE for alternatives. Once you have a Reader installed it’s simply a matter of clicking on the Feed link and away you go.

Q. Why is ChronicleChamber.com now using Blogger to host its site? Why did you change?
A. It is a long and winding story of mystery and adventure. Or it might just be lack of money. For a full run down on the whys and whats of the change read THIS news entry.

Q. What happened to Heroes and Villains and the About section that used to be on the site?
A. While using the blogs for the site does make many things easier in the running of CC, unfortunately some things also had to be sacrificed. It wasn’t an easy decision and I apologize to all who submitted work to these sections of the site. However, the information is not gone. The info we had in the Heroes and Villains and About sections have been moved – in whole or in part – to the Phantom Wiki. For more info on this see HERE. Keep an eye on our news page for up-dates of when old H&V and About info gets onto the Wiki.
Q. Where did the galleries go?
A. We have new galleries, in the form of PhanWorks! PhanWorks is hosted on the artist community DevinatArt and is a collection of Phantom and Mandrake artworks created by you, the phans! There is some absolutally amazing work there, but don't take my word for it, see for yourslef in the preview to the right.

Q. I can not see the previews of Phan Works preview. What is wrong?
A.
To be able to see the embedded previews from DeviantArt you need Flash player installed on your computer. If you don't have Flash you can download it free from HERE

Q. What is the Phantom Wiki you keep mentioning?
A.
A Wiki is like a mini version of Wikipedia, the internet's biggest encyclopaedia on, well, everything. A Wiki uses the same software and interface as Wikipedia and, just like Wikipedia, is totally customizable and anyone can add information to it. A group of dedicated Phans have created the Phantom Wiki so that Phans and new readers a like would have a place to go to find out anything they needed to know about the Phantom, his world and the various publications he has appeared in. A one-stop Phantom info shop, as it were. The Wiki is growing everyday so head on over and take a look and perhaps submit some things yourself.

Q. Who is Lee Falk?.
A. Lee Falk is the creator of The Phantom. Created in 1936 The Phantom was the world’s first costumed adventure hero. You can learn all about Mr. Falk over HERE.

Q. What is an Egmont, a Moonstone and a Frew?
A. Frew, Egmont and Moonstone are the current publishers of the Phantom comic for various countries. Frew in Australia, Moonstone in America and Egmont in Scandinavia.
